Keep hope alive
I didn't get accepted for teacher training and I opted not to go into clearing. I'm going to leave it for a few years - I might go back to it at some point, but right now it's too much hassle. In the interim there are a couple of things I intend to do; firstly, GCSE Maths and secondly, an introduction course in astronomy. Astronomy was one of those things I planned on taking up once I'd retired but having read a bit about it recently I've decided to take the plunge well ahead of schedule. Only after telling Al about it did I find out he'd done the same course earlier - some friend! Next year we intend to do the GCSE (I didn't even know there was one in astronomy!), I'm looking forward to it. In the meantime I'm saving up for my telescope and hope I get it in time to take with me on holiday to Canada next year.
At the moment I'm doing a course in repairs diagnostics, and will probably look to do further courses in construction/building/housing. Or I might do a foundation degree and go in a totally different direction.
Today, rather than meet up with Shell, I decided to go to the cinema and do a bit of retail therapy. The latter didn't quite work out as my shoe size had run out (not fair!). The visit to the cinema was a bit out of the way but it had the earliest showing; I'm just not up for going to the cinema at 2pm when I can go earlier and still have most of the day to do other things. Having said that, despite enjoying the film I'm debating whether what I watched has changed my mind about some things or reinforced it.
